Pondicherry University was ranked in the 801-1,000 range in the QS World University rankings announced for the 2022-2023 academic year, according to a university news statement.
In the latest QS World University Rankings, 2023, Pondicherry University was placed among the top 1,000 universities in the world. A record number of 2,462 institutions from about 100 countries participated this year. Only 41 Indian universities and institutions were able to make an entry into the QS World University Rankings 2023.
Academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty-student ratio, citations per faculty, international faculty and student ratio, international research network, and employment results are all factors in the ranking. Despite the pandemic, University’s performance was well in all of the major areas.

In addition to research impact and teaching commitment, the strongest factor for Pondicherry University at the world level was citations per faculty, according to the QS World University Ranking framework. Since 2020, Pondicherry University has been a part of the QS World University Rankings, as well as the QS Asia University Rankings and the QS BRICS University Rankings.
This has been achieved, the University statement said, due to the constant academic and administrative support and encouragement given by the leadership of Vice Chancellor Professor Gurmeet Singh to the faculty, officers, staff, research scholars and students community to perform their best and bring better academic and administrative results to place the University among one of the top most Universities in India.
